METER READING

The majority of our members have “Turtle” transmitters inside their electric meter that transmit readings from the meter dial to our office. This type of meter reading system, also known as Automated Meter Reading (AMR), eliminates the need to have meter readers manually read members’ meters on a monthly basis. Readings transmit every 27 hours. The term “Turtle meter” is often used describing the slow transmission rate of the unit. These readings are transmitted via power lines to receivers in our substations and then are downloaded to a computer in our office. Our staff can then assist members who are concerned about high or low usage by requesting reports that detail the kWh usage on any particular day in any particular month.

Members are responsible for examining their electric statement and paying for kWhs used. If a member notices no kWh usage or a significant drop in usage, he or she should contact our Customer Service Department immediately.
